Politically Exposed Persons (PEP)
PEP’s are considered to pose an elevated risk due to the status and influence of the position they hold as it relates to corruption and bribery. The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) is an independent multi-government body that creates policies and standards globally to protect against money laundering, counter-terrorist financing, and financing of weapons of mass destruction. FATF recognizes the process of performing Politically Exposed Persons checks.

At Signzy, our team monitors and audits individuals who are identified as PEP globally. We ensure that our database is highly accurate and provide broad coverage to PEPs and their relationships. We go through a series of steps to ensure integrity and accuracy of our database. Those steps are given below:
Step 1: Firstly, we collect data from all government and official source sites for finding existing and new PEP profiles.
Step 2: Then, we use relationship extraction algorithm to continuously search, identify and extract public data from over 20,000 qualified global media sources. This enables us to identify existing and new officials taking office, which automatically enhances much faster and accurately than legacy methods. This covers additional PEP Level 1, 2 and 3 information (PEP’s, family members & associations), then is analyzed through machine learning and applied to enhance our PEP database.
Step 3: Analyst Team is responsible for in depth web analysis and the review of the PEP data our Relationship Extraction Algorithms obtain, where they assist our system in the Machine Learning Process.
